BACKGROUND
HISTORY: HERE and HERE are two wiki links that give a general overview of the series and the world; HERE is a character-specific one. For ease and clarity, I'll be copying the relevant information in this section, expanding where necessary.
The storyline is set in a dystopic, unnamed European city, where crimes and atrocities are common. It is likely set sometime in the future, after a climate disaster and boom in genetic technology greatly affected the trajectory of the world. An organization working deep below the lowest levels of the underground conducts genetic experiments on animals and kidnapped children known as the Kerberos Project. Angelika Einstürzen, the lead scientist of the project, is determined to create the ultimate human weapon, uncaring for all the slaughter and terror her experiments ultimately inflict on the citizens "above."

Dogs: Prelude (also known as Dogs: Stray Dogs Howling in the Dark) is composed of four loosely connected stories that revolve around one of four antihero protagonists. The Dogs: Bullets & Carnage sequel focuses in these four characters and their connections to the underground, as they collaborate to find the entrance to "below," fighting through soldiers from the organization.

Badou's personal history with the Below is by association. Seven years prior to the start of the canon, Badou lost his older brother, Dave, to the mysteries of the underground's lowest levels. A freelance journalist and private investigator, Dave was intent on looking into a string of serial disappearances, which ultimately led him heading towards the deepest parts of the underground. On that fateful day, Badou had followed his brother into the underground, where both were confronted by Richter "Herbst" Berthein, then a soldier of Einstürzen's army. For getting too close to discovering the organization, Dave seemingly lost his life, while Badou suffered an attack that cost him his right eye.

Years later Badou has taken up his brother's mantel in freelance investigation, as well as his nicotine addiction, but that's where the similarities end. Rather than live by his brother's advice that the best way to live is "save it all up at once and blow it all out on one big party," Badou decides to keep "living stingy" — keep his head down where he can, get by with what he has, and most of all: don't stick his nose where it doesn't belong. Even as the underground itself begins to become harder to ignore — as more of Einstürzen's generals and army mobilize to breach the Above; as his associate's connections to the underground start violently manifesting in revisited memories; as his own job has him investigating more disappearances all too similar to the ones his brother was looking into — Badou does his best to keep surviving, even when there's nowhere else to run.

PERSONALITY:

What impression does your character give when meeting someone for the first time? How does the first impression differ from your character’s true nature?
The Badou you get tends to depend on how much nicotine he's got in his system when you meet him. On the one hand, Badou with a cigarette (nicotine if he's lucky, chocolate if he's poor) tends to come off as amiable, but aloof — friendly but with a forced level of apathy that he employs to keep himself out of trouble and unattached. Even when he is in trouble, outnumbered and beat up by thugs, he keeps a cool head and a sharp mouth.

On the other hand, find him in withdrawal, and he becomes hysterical, almost manic. His patience is thinand his recklessness spikes. He's moody and harsh, and would sooner jump into a dangerous situation, balls out, rather than sit back, cower, or consider a less risky possibility.

Both impressions highlight different aspects of Badou's nature, but it's only with his closest associates that he allows the quieter, more introspective part of himself to be known. This is the Badou that doles out jaded warnings and grim realities, the one who is resigned to a shitty life with a likely shitty end but still determined to try anyway.

How does your character handle stress? What do they do in an emergency?
In contrast to most of the other main cast of characters in the series, Badou tends to approach situations with as much forethought as possible. The dangers of the world and his very, very human mortality keep him humble, so more often than not he'd like to have all the information at hand before making any decisions, thus hoping to circumvent any emergencies that might find him with his ass exposed. He's not always granted that grace, so in times when he's left to just react he does his best to pivot and think on his feet.

In terms of stress, Badou's preferred method is to smoke a cigarette, but in the absence of that he'll either 1) act out impulsively and recklessly, or 2) withdraw into himself and get caught up in the traumas of his past.

What are your character’s ambitions/goals? Why are they important to your character?
Badou's only goal in life is this: survive. Losing his brother as young as he had left a deep scar on Badou that to this day still haunts him despite the nonchalance he enacts whenever it's brought up. In Dave, Badou saw what living without restraint and regret landed you — facedown in your own blood. There was a time when Badou admired his brother for that way of thinking; an impressionable boy who saw to it to take care of his older brother while said brother worked to expose the atrocities of the world, but now Dave only serves as a cautionary tale.

INVENTORY: N/A

POWERS
SKILLS/ABILITIES: Though Badou is as human as it gets (especially in comparison to the rest of the cast), he still possesses a number of abilities that allow him to keep up:
• speed: whether it be powered by adrenaline or fear, Badou has shown to quick-footed enough to seemingly outrun a speeding car
• marksman: though his style may make others think more "maniacal" than anything else, he has shown considerable deftness with the gun… at least to the point where he can hold his own against a slew of opponents with guns of their own
• investigation: where the other three protagonists take the brunt of being the muscle or fighters in the group, Badou's main contribution lies in sneaking around, gathering and analyzing information, and cultivating a network of useful contacts
NERFING: N/A

WEAKNESSES: N/A, unless you count the nicotine addiction
